During the sacred journey of Kanwar Yatra, devotees walk long distances to collect holy water from the Ganga River and offer it to Lord Shiva. Maintaining a healthy and balanced diet is essential to keep energy levels high throughout the yatra. A proper diet helps Kanwariyas stay active, hydrated, and strong during long walking hours.
Start the day with light and nutritious food such as fruits, bananas, apples, and soaked dry fruits. These provide natural energy and are easy to digest. Breakfast options like poha, upma, or simple roti with vegetables are also good choices. During the journey, drink plenty of water, lemon water, or coconut water to prevent dehydration.
For lunch, eat simple and satvik meals like dal, rice, chapati, and seasonal vegetables. Avoid oily, spicy, and heavy foods because they can cause fatigue and stomach problems while walking. Carry healthy snacks like peanuts, jaggery, chana, and energy bars for quick energy.
At night, eat a light dinner such as khichdi or roti with vegetables so the body can rest properly. Following a clean, vegetarian, and balanced diet during the yatra keeps Kanwariyas energetic and helps them complete the spiritual journey with devotion and strength.
