The Kanwar Yatra from Delhi to Haridwar is one of the most popular spiritual journeys for devotees of Lord Shiva. Every year during the holy month of Shravan, millions of Kanwariyas travel this sacred route to collect holy water from the Ganga and offer it to Lord Shiva.
The distance from Delhi to Haridwar is around 220 km, and many devotees choose to walk the entire route as an act of devotion and faith. The common route passes through Ghaziabad, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, and Roorkee before reaching Haridwar. Along the way, many camps, food stalls, and medical facilities are arranged to support the Kanwariyas.
Devotees carry a decorated Kanwar on their shoulders and chant “Bol Bam” while walking. Many pilgrims also wear comfortable Kanwar T-shirts and carry essential items for a safe journey.
The final destination in Haridwar is Har Ki Pauri, where devotees collect the holy Ganga water. After that, they return to their hometown temples to offer the sacred water to Lord Shiva.
This journey is not just a pilgrimage but a symbol of faith, discipline, and devotion for millions of Kanwariyas across India.
