The Kanwar Yatra is one of the most sacred pilgrimages dedicated to Lord Shiva, where devotees known as Kanwariyas carry holy water from the Ganga River to offer at Shiva temples. The vessel they use to carry this water is called a Kawad (कांवड़) — a symbol of devotion, discipline, and faith.

2. Decorated Kawad
Adorned with colorful lights, mirrors, and flowers, these Kawads reflect festive enthusiasm and group unity during the Yatra.
3. Mechanical Kawad
Modern versions feature trolleys, LED lights, and even battery setups, blending spirituality with innovation.
4. Jhoola Kawad
This swing-style design helps balance the water pots easily, ideal for long-distance Kanwariyas.
5. Jhankhi Kawad
Designed as moving tableaux, these Kawads display devotional themes and mythological scenes, creating a spiritual spectacle on the road.
Each type of Kawad holds a unique meaning — from humble beginnings to grand displays, all express the same unwavering devotion to Lord Shiva.
