kanwariya
punjab-post

The Kanwar Yatra is one of the most important pilgrimages for devotees of Lord Shiva. Every year during the holy month of Shravan, thousands of Kanwariyas from Punjab travel to the sacred city of Haridwar to collect holy water from the Ganga River.

Devotees from cities like Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, and Patiala begin their spiritual journey with great devotion. Many pilgrims walk hundreds of kilometers carrying beautifully decorated Kanwars on their shoulders. Along the way, they chant “Bol Bam” and “Har Har Mahadev,” creating a powerful spiritual atmosphere.

When the Kanwariyas reach Haridwar, they collect the sacred Ganga Jal from the holy ghats. This holy water is then carried back to their local temples and offered to Lord Shiva, especially on the auspicious day of Shravan Shivratri.

During the journey, many volunteers and organizations arrange food stalls, medical camps, and resting areas for the devotees. These services help make the pilgrimage safer and more comfortable.

The Kanwar Yatra from Punjab to Haridwar is not just a journey but a symbol of faith, devotion, and unity among Shiva devotees across India.
