The Kawad Yatra is a sacred pilgrimage undertaken by devotees of Lord Shiva, known as Kanwariyas, who travel to collect holy Ganga water and offer it at Shiva temples in their hometowns. Along the route from Haridwar to various destinations across North India, several revered temples hold deep spiritual significance.

One of the most prominent stops is the Daksheswar Mahadev Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva and linked to the legend of King Daksha and Goddess Sati. Pilgrims also visit Mansa Devi Temple, perched on Bilwa Parvat, where devotees pray for wish fulfillment before beginning their journey.

In Meerut, the ancient Augarnath Temple is a key spiritual halt, believed to grant strength and protection to pilgrims. Further along, the Pura Mahadev Temple attracts thousands of Kanwariyas who offer Ganga jal to the self-manifested Shivling.

Another significant destination is Delhi, where devotees visit Gauri Shankar Temple, one of the oldest Shiva temples in the capital. Many pilgrims conclude their yatra at local Shiva shrines, completing their spiritual vow.

These temples not only provide spiritual solace but also serve as resting points, reinforcing faith and devotion throughout the sacred Kawad Yatra journey.
