During the Kawad Yatra, food is not just about energy—it’s also about devotion, purity, and local culture. Along the yatra routes, you’ll find simple, satvik, and nourishing meals served with deep faith and love.

One of the most common foods is khichdi, made with rice, lentils, and mild spices. It’s easy to digest and gives long-lasting energy for walking. Poori with aloo sabzi is another favorite, often served at free langars (bhandaras) by devotees. The food is freshly cooked and follows strict satvik rules—no onion, no garlic.

Kanwariyas also enjoy kachori, jalebi, and halwa in many towns, especially during early mornings. For hydration, chaach (buttermilk), lemon water, and sharbat stalls are common and very refreshing in hot weather. Seasonal fruits like banana, watermelon, and apple are also widely available and help prevent dehydration.

In North Indian regions, you may find paneer sabzi, plain dal, and steamed rice at organized seva camps. These meals are light, nutritious, and spiritually aligned with the yatra’s discipline.

Eating local food during Kawad Yatra connects Kanwariyas to devotion, tradition, and the kindness of fellow devotees, making the journey even more meaningful.
