A Kanwariya’s daily routine during the sacred Kawad Yatra is a disciplined blend of devotion, endurance, and simplicity. The day usually begins before sunrise with prayers to Lord Shiva. After bathing, Kanwariyas chant “Bol Bam” and perform a short puja, seeking strength and protection for the journey ahead. A light, satvik meal such as fruits, milk, or simple food is consumed to maintain energy without burdening the body.

The main part of the day is spent walking barefoot along the Kawad route, carrying the Kawad with holy Ganga Jal. Kanwariyas strictly follow spiritual rules, avoiding alcohol, tobacco, and negative thoughts. Regular breaks are taken to rest, hydrate, and care for feet to prevent blisters and injuries. Many also visit roadside Shiva temples to offer prayers and maintain spiritual focus.

In the evening, after reaching a resting point or camp, Kanwariyas clean themselves and the Kawad, followed by group bhajans, aartis, and chanting. Dinner remains simple and vegetarian, often provided by seva camps. The day ends with gratitude, meditation, and rest, preparing both mind and body for the next day’s journey. This disciplined routine strengthens faith, self-control, and inner peace throughout the Kawad Yatra.
