The Kawad Yatra is a spiritually enriching but physically demanding journey. Devotees walk for several kilometers carrying the holy Ganga water for Lord Shiva. To stay energetic, healthy, and safe, following a proper diet plan is very important.


✅ Ideal Diet Plan for Kanwariyas

1. Early Morning (Before Starting Walk)

  • A glass of lukewarm water with lemon

  • Dry fruits (almonds, raisins, dates) for instant energy

  • Light fruits like banana or apple


2. Breakfast

  • Poha, Upma, or Daliya (light and easy to digest)

  • A glass of milk or buttermilk

  • Avoid oily parathas or heavy meals


3. During the Walk

  • Glucose water, lemon water, or coconut water for hydration

  • Fruits like watermelon, papaya, or cucumber to prevent dehydration

  • Keep small portions of jaggery, peanuts, or chana for energy boosts


4. Lunch

  • Roti with vegetables (boiled or lightly cooked)

  • Moong dal khichdi or plain rice with curd

  • Avoid spicy, fried, or oily foods which may cause acidity or fatigue


5. Evening Snacks

  • Sprouts salad with lemon and salt

  • Dry fruits or roasted makhana

  • Herbal tea or lemon water instead of regular tea/coffee


6. Dinner

  • Light meal: chapati with vegetables or simple khichdi

  • Warm milk before sleeping helps relax the body
